QUICK CROQUET (Devised by Peter Rudge)
So called because it is quick; a game can be finished in thirty minutes or less. No new rules to learn; the only change occurs before play begins -- and it starts with a quick start. The game is focussed upon all the exciting tactics of the end-of-game
features such as peeling, lifts, contact and pegging out.
It provides the best chance that croquet has to get on to television and for the game to be popularised in that way.
Remember what the television program Pot Black did for snooker; and note how the not-so-well-known game of curling boomed after being televised at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

From Mallet Sports Express, Croquet Queensland's Official Newsletter May 2002
(used with permission):
The Gold Coast Region is currently trialling a new proposed 30 minute version of Croquet. The feature of this modified game is that it is not really modified. This is Asociation Croquet -- where you can peg out in 30 minutes or less. The catch is that only the last 6 hoops are used and four balls are hit onto the court in readiness for a start.
This version of Croquet is proposed as a game that could become spectator and television friendly. Loud supporters, television cameras and photographers are very welcome!
From Keran Humes, croquet player and designer of this website:
After reading what Peter has written, I became very interested in this concept of croquet and therefore recently played three games in a row. It was very exciting - no messing around at the start, the winner of the toss has the opportunity to score straight away and the opponent can claim a lift after the first hoop (1 back) is scored.
Personally, I think this is an excellent game - it is fast, played exactly the same as Association Croquet and the only new thing you need to learn is the (simple) quick start.
